RE: I have a 2004 F350. How much toyhauler can I really tow?

Naw! The clunking you hear is just the different diameters between the PIN and the HITCH in the closed position. ie the pin=o the hitch =O Also there is a little play up and down. I found that is you get one of those big round plastic disk for 5er's the noise is reduced 90% .... at least in my case it was. That disk did cause me some trouble when disconnecting 5er, seems to have taken up all the up n down slack between the Hitch plate and bottom of 5er hitch pin. Slow take-offs and stops are a good thing .. kind of easier on the equipment. Agreed... In addition to what Dave mentions... Likely partly due to the 4 way pivot head. Normal. Cheers.

RE: I have a 2004 F350. How much toyhauler can I really tow?

When are you hearing the clunking? While hitched I presume? While going down the highway (like over expansion joints for example)? Or when doing tight parking maneuvers? I have the 18K signature series... It clunks alot when I'm not hitched.. This is the 4 way pivot head moving as the truck jostles around. When loaded, about the only time mine makes any noise is when I'm jockeying into position at a campsite - making tight maneuvers.

RE: I have a 2004 F350. How much toyhauler can I really tow?

This is actually a matter of great debate on these forums, due to the mix of facts and urban legends. One member responded with fairly unkind words and the post is gone now. I responded with no unkind words.. I simply stated that the posted fabricated their response.. And THAT was true. The poster was simply re-stating the urban legends you refer to. I get so sick and tired of posters on this forum using scare tactics (intentional or not - the end result is the same) to further their opinion... To the point of making stuff up. The fact of the matter is insurance covers negligence. If it didn't, insurance would never pay out a claim related to a traffic accident. I'm sure shortly this post will be deleted as well. Nothing like a dissenting opinion eh?

RE: Dropping like a stone

All we can do is compare one year to the next, since that's all we're privy to... Would be interesting to see the actual sales VS forecast/goals.

RE: I have a 2004 F350. How much toyhauler can I really tow?

.... It seems everyone has a different opinion on what the truck can actually tow. Some say "no problem" on 18K, others say "NO WAY".... Then what makes you think this thread is going to be any different and come to a real conclusion you can "count on"? :?

RE: Does 10 year rule apply to 5th Wheels in RV Parks?

I think if I'm ever asked, I'm just going to put "1971" and not say a word about it... See if they notice.

RE: Tow/haul mode

Does the button say "tow/haul 'in hilly terrain'" or "tow/haul"?

RE: Not Giving Jeeps Enough Credit

I love this place... So much misinformation given by those that took the bait! Go to the TT forum and there's all kinds of people towing 17, 19, 21 foot travel trailers with their Jeep Grand Cherokees - without notice, because that's considered 'ok'. Yes this guy gets hammered... Unreal.

RE: F350 or F450

Either the F350 DRW or the F450 will handle that load without a problem. F450 will give you more "growing room", but unless you're planning on going larger hauler with 2 buggies (or jeep and buggy) that may by 5K you don't need to spend. That said.... Drive them both. Pick the one you both like the best, and can get the best deal on.

RE: Actual federal weight law rules, some questions and answers

So every experienced LEO that has responded says that none of this applies to RVers. Everyone who still spouts this junk about GVWR and GAWR being legally binding and junk about RVers being hauled off to jail and being sued for being "overweight" should listen to the real experts.... Now you're applying too much logic to it. If you continue to do so, you'll be hauled off and forced to camp in a Walmart parking lot. Slides and awning out, of course. :)

RE: WalMart Picture Posting Thread

Walmart is a $400/month habit for me and my wife... (and that's with only 2 of us... and this amount doesn't include our trips. Just "normal" spending) On the road, we "overnight" there frequently. If they disallowed it, we would spend our money at another store. They like us. They want us. We enable them. They enable us. Walmart.. My co-dependent rv-enabler.
